The premier fast bowler of South Africa Dale Steyn wants to participate in the upcoming T20 World Cup in 2020 in Australia. To cement his position in the team, Steyn makes a comeback into the team for the T20I series against England in the home conditions. Notably, the veteran fast bowler has not played international cricket ever since March 2019.

During the IPL, he picked up a shoulder injury, and that ruled him out of the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup. The series of injuries made Dale Steyn call curtains on his Test career, but the flamboyant cricketer is willing to play the forthcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2020 in Australia.

Further, Steyn stated that he would be available for the ODI matches as well, but priority will be T20I series, as it wouldn’t take much toll on his body. Dale Steyn also added that he is enjoying his time on the field in the shorter formats of the game.

“I know I’ll be part of (the T20 series against England), that was the last conversation I’ve had. I get a nice two-week break, then straight into it again. I’ll be around for the ODIs, to be honest, I don’t know how much I’ll play (the ODIs),” Dale Steyn said.

”I’ll be there for that and then definitely the T20s. That (T20 World Cup) is very much on my agenda. I’m starting to enjoy my cricket a lot more now; I think four overs is a lot easier on the body than the Test matches are,” Steyn remarked.

South Africa need ”Experience”:

Further, Dale Steyn feels that the current South Africa attack needs the experience in the side. He believes Kagiso Rabada, aged 24, is too young to carry the burden on his shoulders. Besides that, Steyn wants to prove his mettle for the team in bilateral games before asking for a place in ICC T20 World Cup.

“KG (Kagiso Rabada) is very young to lead the attack at 24, and the next bowlers to come in are all younger than him, I think he needs somebody that’s there that is experienced, to look around and he knows he’s not only one there.”

”So I’m putting my hand up for that, and then I’ll wait and see how selections go. After the MSL (Mzansi Super League) that we played, there were a lot of players that come out some fantastic bowlers,” Steyn said.
