Danielle Wyatt Opens Up About Her Relationship With The Tendulkars' And Her Net Sessions With Arjun Tendulkar

Danielle Wyatt, England swashbuckling opener, has been the bedrock of her sides batting-unit and one of the most destructive players in women’ cricket currently.

Wyatt, who has thus far featured in 74 ODIs and 129 T20Is for England has two hundred to her name in the shortest format of the game. The English opener is a hugely popular figure in India.

She is a big fan of Indian captain Virat Kohli and has had also engaged in hilarious banters with leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. Wyatt is also a huge fan of Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar.

Recalling his first meeting with the Indian legend, Danielle Wyatt said she first met his hero Sachin and his son Arjun at Lord’s back in 200-10.

“So, I first met Sachin and Arjun at Lord’s Cricket Ground. Maybe 2009 or 2010 when I was with MCC young cricketers and they were training in the nets. Literally I went to the nets and said hello and introduced myself saying I am Danni etc,” Danielle Wyatt recalled.

Wyatt recalled that he bowled to a 10-year-old Arjun back then and now whenever she meets him, she makes it a point to ask him to bowl to her in the nets.

“Arjun would have been 10 years old back then, he was so small. There is a photo somewhere on Google. I bowled to him that day, he was very good. Since then whenever I bump into Sachin or Arjun or whenever they come to Lord’s to train, I go to the nets and ask him (Arjun) to bowl the new ball to me,” Danielle Wyatt added.

But Wyatt is now wary of Arjun’s face, who she revealed also tends to remind her that he will knock her head off.

“But he is getting very quick now. He always says I will bounce you and knock your head off so I don’t like him bowling to me anymore. He is getting too dangerous to face (Laughs). They are a lovely family. Arjun’s mom is also lovely. Recently, I bumped into Sachin in Australia during the World Cup. It is nice to see them whenever I see them,” she added.
