Danielle Wyatt Hails Rohit Sharma's Heroics At Visakhapatnam

It was a scintillating game for the Indian opener Rohit Sharma at Visakhapatnam. He proved his mettle with twin centuries against South Africa thus collecting the man of the match award. Meanwhile, the England opener Danielle Wyatt, who follows Indian cricket praised the new opening batsman of India in the Test format of the game.

Rohit became the first batsman to score over 300 runs in his first Test as an opener. He justified his role at the top of the order and is likely to solve India’s problem regarding their opening batsman in Test matches. Danielle Wyatt took to Instagram to post a story dedicating it to Rohit after his stupendous show with the bat.  “Rohit what a player,” she wrote in her story.

On Monday, Rohit Sharma, who became the first player to score a century in each innings of his maiden Test as an opener, jumped to a career-best 17th position in the ICC Test Player Rankings. Rohit finished the Test match with a staggering 303 runs under his belt. He would be looking to continue his fine form in the second Test which gets underway on Thursday.

Having hit 13 sixes in the match, Sharma also achieved the record for scoring most sixes in a single Test. He surpassed former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram who had hit 12 sixes during his career-best Test innings against Zimbabwe. As far as scoring two centuries in a single Test in considered, Rohit became the sixth Indian batsman to do so.

Riding on Rohit Sharma’s man of the match performance, India have gained 40 points in the ICC World Test Championship table after the win at Visakhapatnam and are now on 160 points after having won a full 120 points for a 2-0 series win in the West Indies.

However, now, the expectations on Rohit Sharma will be sky high for the upcoming game as well. It would be interesting to see how he counters it in future games. All in all, it was a perfect game for the vice-captain in a limited-overs format for India.
