Darren Sammy has schooled Bollywood actress Swara Bhaskar after she asked former Sunrisers Hyderabad players to ‘show some decency & spine’ for calling the West Indies allrounder kalu (a racist term).

Earlier this month, Darren Sammy came up with an emotional post on social media, saying he was subjected to a racial slur during his stint with the IPL outfit.  The two-time T20 World Cup-winning captain said he was called ‘kalu’ by a few of his teammates and that he only came to know about the racist tone attached to the word after watching a television show recently.

He also said he would confront his former teammates about the jibe and ask them to explain the usage of the world ‘kalu’. And on Tuesday, he took to Twitter to confirm that one of his former teammates had an ‘interesting’ conversation with him. He also stated that he was assured the player operated from a ‘place of love’.

But while Darren Sammy is at peace with the explanation, Swara Bhaskar was not. She took to Twitter to post her message in which she tried to incite the West Indies legend by asking him to seek apology from his former teammates, writing:

“Dear @darensammy88 if someone used the N word at a black person & said they “operated from a place of love” what would u say? Same with word ‘Kaalu’ & it’s variations. And team members of @SunRisers. Show some decency & spine #SaySorryToDaren officially ! #thatsnotcricket @IPL”

However, Darren Sammy made it clear that while he is not condoning the incident, he is more interested in educating people instead of seeking apology, writing:

“Don’t get me wrong I’m not condoning what was done/said. I’m saying let’s use this opportunity to educate each other so it doesn’t happen again. One can only apologize if he/she feels wrong about something. I’m confident&proud to be black. That will never change ??????”
