It was a commanding victory for the Sri Lanka team in Pakistan. They whitewashed the home team with a stunning show in the 3-match T20I series. Meanwhile, the skipper of Sri Lanka Dasun Shanaka acquired a rare record of winning 3 matches in his 3 captaincy appearances. Earlier, it was only India’s MS Dhoni and Australia’s Michael Clarke, who achieved the stat in their kitty.

Dasun Shanaka enters the Elite list:

After losing the ODI series, a second-string Sri Lanka team dominated the no.1 ranked team in all the three T20Is. Shanaka was appointed as the captain for the tour after T20I captain, Lasith Malinga, refused to travel to Pakistan. The youngster did the job to perfection.

An inexperienced Sri Lanka side thrashed top-ranked Pakistan by 13 runs in the final T20I at Gaddafi Stadium to pull off a momentous 3-0 series sweep in Lahore. The victory holds more significance because Sri Lanka outplayed Pakistan in their own backyard in absence of some of their most senior players.

It was an incredible series for Sri Lanka, as they achieved their first-ever whitewash in the shorter format of the game. And, the special highlight is that they achieved the victory with a young side, as the likes of Lasith Malinga, Niroshan Dickwella hesitated to travel Pakistan alongside the other key players.

In all the three matches, someone or the other stood for the team during the crunch situations of the game. However, as far as the bowling department, Isuru Udana, Rajitha and Hasaranga have been sensational for Sri Lanka.

Before locking horns in the T20I format of the game, Pakistan convincingly thrashed Sri Lanka in both ODI matches thus bagging the series. All in all, it was a perfect end to the brave tour of Sri Lanka to Pakistan. Apart from cricket, the players are happy with the crowd support and the security given to them throughout their stay in Pakistan.
