David Warner, SunRisers Hyderabad captain, was chuffed to bits after his side completed a clinical five-wicket win against the Royals Challengers Bangalore to keep their hopes alive in the Dream11 IPL 2020.

It was a must-win game for SunRisers and the Warner-led unit was up to the task as they outplayed RCB in all departments of the game. Bowling first, SRH’s attack was right on the money from the very outset. Sandeep Sharma provided crucial scalps of Devdutt Padikkal and Virat Kohli in the powerplay while Rashid Khan weaved his magic in the middle-overs. Then, Jason Holder and T Natarajan came back brilliantly at the death to ensure that RCB posted a mere 120 in 20 overs.

David Warner lauded his bowling group for the manner in which they adapted to the conditions in Dubai. While chasing the target, SRH lost their skipper early but that did not stop the likes of Manish Pandey and Wriddhiman Saha from continuing the momentum in the powerplay. SRH posted 58 runs in the first six overs, a platform on which Jason Holder capitalized to the hilt at the backend. Warner said that his side has worked out how to go about their business at the top of the order, something that was on display on Saturday.

”Losing Vijay is a big miss. For us we have worked out, how to go about at the top of the order. With the bowling, the credit goes to them. The wicket is slowing up a bit, the bowlers got to adapt to it. Tonight the bowlers have executed it well. Dubai has been the same, I think it gets dewy here. It wasn’t a surprise at all,” David Warner said in the post-match interview.

SunRisers Hyderabad was in a bit of a hole during their run-chase post-back-to-back dismissals of Wriddhiman Saha and Kane Williamson. But Jason Holder’s whirlwind assault during his maniac 10-ball 26 meant that there were no hiccups this time around. Needless to say, David Warner was full of praise for the West Indian all-rounder.

Courtesy of today’s win, SunRisers Hyderabad has moved to the 4th spot thanks to a superior NRR. And, they just need to win their last game against the Mumbai Indians to ensure the playoffs spot

”Holder’s a great all-rounder. To bowl a bouncer against someone like him, you have to dig it very short. It’s great to have that consistency. We knew we had to win today, and that’s the case in the next game. In 2016 we had to win three games and we did that,” David Warner signed off.
