Australian coach Darren Lehmann came out to reveal that David Warner’s vice-captaincy is safe and sound, given the ugly situation at Durban. The Aussie head coach lent full support to his comrade who’s currently under the pump.

Aussies are known to play the hard way. But, Lehmann affirmed that players should be wary of the boundaries. Also, they should learn to deal with situations better in a closed environment.

With events which transpired at Kingsmead, the Australian coach hopes for a closely fought tough series.

No, he’s vice-captain of the Australian cricket team. We’re certainly supporting David. We want to play a way that gets us success and for us we’ve just got to make sure we don’t cross the line, that’s the key,” replied Lehmann when asked if Warner’s post in the team is under threat.

There are things that cross the line and evoke emotion and you’ve got to deal with that behind closed doors and get better at that. We’ll just wait and see what happens moving forward, how both teams want to play it,” added Lehmann.

On Day 4 of the Test match, Warner, Lyon and Starc engaged continuously in banter with the South Africans. Lyon was fined for his unnecessary action post the dismissal of AB de Villers.

I’m sure the captains will chat and the coaches will chat and we’ll get away to play the game. Both sides are going to push the boundaries. That’s part and parcel of Test match cricket,” says the 48-year old.

The two time World Cup winning Australian claimed that Lyon went on to apologise for AB over texts. Lyon dropped the ball on De Villiers intentionally while De Villiers was down to reach the crease.

It was probably a bit cheeky. The great thing about it, he apologised to AB straight away. He sent him a text, spoke to him today and it’s dealt with. That’s how it should be as grown men,” assured Darren Lehmann according to Espncricinfo.
