DDCA Appoints Lance Klusener as Consultant for Delhi Ranji Team
In one of those surprise signings, the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) named Lance Klusener as the consultant coach for the upcoming domestic season of Ranji. The appointment of the former South African is certainly the high profile signing in the domestic circuit.
Meanwhile, the former Delhi cricketer, Mithun Manhas will be the chief coach for the team. Both the signings have been a significant surprise in the domestic fold as none would have expected them penning the deal.
Lance Kulsener will look after the team in limited-overs:
The President of DDCA, Rajat Sharma maintained that the services of Kulsener would be available during the limited-overs tournaments conducted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). He felt there is a need for a coach like the Proteas stalwart to help Delhi youngsters.
He will work as the consultant coach during the period of Vijay Hazare and Deodhar trophies respectively for Delhi. Furthermore, Klusener will make his time during the Twenty20 tournament as well.
“Lance Klusner will be Cricket Consultant of Ranji Team of DCCA for One-day tournaments starting from 19th September ( Vijay Hazare trophy and Deodhar Trophy) and domestic T20 tournament scheduled in February 2019,” PTI quoted Klusener.
“His role will require his services alongside the main coach and all the other coaches in the team,” Rajat stated.
T Anand will coach Under-23 team:
Furtherly, they announced the head coach for various sections as well. They named T Anand as the head coach for the Under-23 team while Hitesh Jain and Robin Singh Jr will look after batting and bowling department respectively.
Rajeev Nayak has been appointed as the coach for the U-19 team while NS Negi as the assistant coach and V Aravind as the bowling coach.
For U-16, Pankaj Joshi and for under-14, Pradeep Chawla will coach the team.
In conclusion, Lance Klusener has a strong CV on his back. He could further play a crucial for Delhi in Ranji fold under the ambit of DDCA.
