Deepak Chahar Recalls Cricketing Journey, Sachin Tendulkar His Inspiration

Indian fast bowler, Deepak Chahar has recollected thoughts about his journey to the national team from the domestic format and it’s quite a story. He has been exceptional for his side in the domestic circuit and made rapid strides in his career as well. He talks highly of legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar.

The right-handed medium pacer Chahar has got the great exposure when he performed brilliantly for CSK. Under Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s captaincy, he took care of the powerplay overs by dominating Windies Dwayne Bravo and the Proteas speedster Lungi Ngidi.

The stylish cricketer Chahar narrated his story and the first meeting with Tendulkar. Chahar went on to say how he turned himself into a serious cricketer and the learnings from senior cricketers.

The Rising Pune Supergiant’s (now-defunct) bowler reveals a story that took place between him and Tendulkar when he was selected to ball in the nets. Deepak added that it was his fanboy moment to cherish his meeting with the veteran.

”When I started playing cricket, Sachin Tendulkar was someone we looked up to. Just like every other young cricketer, I also took up the game seriously only after watching Sachin Paaji. And even today, he remains my inspiration. I had the chance of meeting Sachin Paaji. when I was 13 years old. He had come for a game in Jaipur in 2005 and I was selected as one of the net bowlers,” Deepak wrote in his column for Sportstar Live.

 

”Before hitting the nets, I gave him a few throw-downs and he was very humble. Never did he make us realise that we were actually bowling to someone like Sachin Tendulkar. He made it a point to talk to us and made us feel comfortable. That was definitely a fanboy moment for me. I still cherish that moment,” he added.

I had the opportunity of knowing MS Dhoni from close quarters: Chahar

Luckily, Chahar has played alongside Mahendra Singh Dhoni in his two-year of IPL career. Meanwhile, it helped him a lot and eventually, found himself in playing alongside Dhoni for the Indian team.

Explaining a story, Deepak Chahar revealed a heart-touching moment happened with Dhoni. He wrote that MS Dhoni had given him the tips when he was injured while playing in the nets which is a touching for him.

”I also have had the opportunity of knowing MS Dhoni from close quarters. I met him for the first time in 2017 at the Rising Pune Supergiant camp. It was during a practice game that I first met Dhoni Bhai. I was batting when he came to the ground and unfortunately I picked up an injury on that very day. He walked up to me and inquired about the injury and also advised me on how to deal with injury. That really touched me,” he added.

However, Chahar has grown strength to strength by performing in domestic formats often than not. His recent India A performance acquired him a chance to take his run-up for India in T20I cricket.
