Deepak Chahar starred as India claimed the must-winning game to beat Bangladesh in the three-match Twenty20 International series. Chahar returned with six for seven in 3.2 overs as the host restricted the Bangla Tigers at 144 runs to win the tie by 30 runs.
Put to bat first, unlike the last match, India lost their openers early today, but it was the two youngsters – KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer who set things up for the Men in Blue. Rahul played like a surgeon in the powerplay, while Iyer, who was dropped for zero, turned out to be a hero, scoring 62 runs that included five massive sixes.
Two fifties from Rahul and Iyer and quickfire knock from Manish Pandey helped India post 174 runs after a faulty start in Nagpur. Both Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul were in the firing line but bounced back when India needed the most.

While it looked like a 50-50 encounter at the halfway stage, Deepak Chahar took India home. He returned home with six wickets including a hattrick to secure the series win. Mohammad Naim played a valiant 81-run knock but lacked support from the other end.
Chahar bowled exceptionally well with good support from Shivam Dube. Returning with six for seven in 3.2 overs, Deepak Chahar registered their best-ever bowling figure in a Twenty20 International. He leapfrogged Sri Lanka’s Ajantha Mendis who recorded six for eight against Zimbabwe.

Speaking at the end of the match, Chahar revealed that he never dreamt of this. Moreover, the 28-year-old noted that he is happy to deliver in crunch situation for his side.
“I never thought of this, not even in my dreams. I have been trying to work hard since my childhood and my efforts have paid off. Rohit was planning to give me the crucial overs and the management wanted to do the same. I always focus on the next ball, I keep doing that, until I don’t complete my spell,” Deepak Chahar said.
