Everything that Deepak Chahar is touching at the moment is turning into gold. India’s latest bowling sensation made waves earlier this month by blowing away Bangladesh in the third T20I in Nagpur, helping India win the match and clinch the series. The right-arm pacer had picked up 6 for just 7 runs as India beat Bangladesh by 30 runs to win the series.
The spell also included a hat-trick as Chahar rewrote history books. He became the first Indian to pick up a hat-trick in the shortest format of the game. He also achieved the record of best bowling figures in men’s T20Is. Chahar broke the record of Ajantha Mendis who had the figures of 6 for 8 runs.
Just a couple of days after that sensational performance, he picked up another hat-tick, this time for Rajasthan in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He achieved the feat against Vidarbha. The pace star finished with figures of 4 for 18 in 3 overs which included a hat-trick and a maiden over. The impressive performances have helped him retain his place in India’s T20I squad for the upcoming series against West Indies.
Deepak Chahar impresses with bat:
As if his performances with the ball was not enough, Deepak Chahar, on Wednesday, showed he can be equally impressive with the bat as well. The Rajasthan allrounder smashed a stunning fifty against Delhi in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He smashed 55 runs from just 42 balls with the help of seven sixes. His knock eventually made the difference in the game as Rajasthan beat Delhi by just two runs.
Rajasthan were reeling at 50 for 5 in the tenth over when Deepak Chahar came out to bat. From there on, he waged a lone battle and scored the unbeaten fifty to help his side post a competitive 133 for 7 in the 20 overs. Chahar then impressed with the ball too, conceding just 27 in his four overs to take his team over the line.
