Delhi Announce Squad For Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019, Shikhar Dhawan Opts Out

On Wednesday, the Delhi board has announced their squad for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019. The young Dhruv Shorey named as the skipper of the team while the opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan was left out from the squad. Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant and Navdeep Saini were named on the chart.
The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) on Wednesday announced the 15-member squad which consists of India players Rishabh Pant and Navdeep Saini after they confirmed their availability for the tournament on Tuesday. Initially, Dhawan also confirmed his availability but later, he opted himself out.

Rishabh Pant is expected to play initial matches – Atul Wassan
Delhi starts their campaign on an opening day against Vidarbha and it is expected that both the International players will be available for the initial matches. The sixteen-member chart consists of Nitish Rana, Hiten Dalal and Pawan Negi alongside the likes of Manan Sharma, Subodh Bhatt and Kulwant Khejrolia.

“Pant is expected to play at least first two to three games for Delhi as he will then report for the national team. Rishabh himself said that he wanted to play,” Delhi senior team’s chairman of selectors Atul Wassan told PTI.
Shikhar Dhawan has got family matters:
Speaking of the exclusion of Shikhar Dhawan from the squad, the chairman clarified that the left-handed batsman wants to travel to Australia to attend his family following the conclusion of the ongoing series against South Africa. The flamboyant batsman will join the team in the middle of the tournament.

“Shikhar needs to go back to Australia to attend to some family matters. He has said that he will join the squad at a later date,” Wassan said.
All in all, the squad looks decent with every department of the team is filled with the best players available in the circuit. Now, the players would like to perform well in order to cement their place when the International stars return to domestic cricket.
