Delhi Daredevils franchise is likely to play few of its home games at the Ekana Stadium in Luckow this year, a report in The Indian Express suggests. If DD play few of its games there, then it would mark the first mega event for the stadium as last year, the ODI which was to be played there was shifted to Green Park after the stadium was deemed not ready to host the game.

Last year, the stadium hosted the second edition of Pink ball Duleep Trophy jointly with Green Park. Ekana Stadium can accommodate more crowd than Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, which could also be one of the reasons behind DD looking to play few its games here.

Though the home ground of Delhi Daredevils is Feroz Shah Kotla stadium in the past, the franchise has played few of its games at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Stadium in Chhattisgarh. There were also rumours that the franchise might shift its base to Kerala but the official denied any such news, later.

If DD confirm to play few of its games there (Ekana stadium), then it would mark a comeback of IPL in Uttar Pradesh. In past two years, the state had hosted a total of four IPL games when Gujarat Lions played two of its home games in Kanpur each year.

However, IPL Chairman Rajiv Shukla later confirmed that Kanpur would not host any IPL game this year due to various issues. Though the games will not be played in Kanpur, the state will at least witness few IPL games this year too.

The eleventh edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to kick off from April 7 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai where Mumbai Indians will play the first game of the season.
