The 2018 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) hasn’t gone in Delhi Daredevils (DD) way so far. But the side has taken giant steps forward when it comes to making a difference in the domestic professional Twenty20.

Currently, the side led by youngster Shreyas Iyer is languishing at the bottom of the points table with just three wins from 10 games.

The Daredevils are winning hearts off-the-field for some noble gesture. The cricketers have pledged to donate their organs in order to raise more awareness.

Led by an inspirational leader Gautam Gambhir, young sensation Prithvi Shaw and Mohammed Shami pledged their organs at a recent event organized by Fortis Hospital.

“Our favourite team @DelhiDaredevils just won our hearts by pledging to donate their organs. #MoreToGive #DDwithFortis,” Fortis Healthcare tweeted in the micro-blogging site and shared pictures along with some of the Daredevils’ players.

“I want to request everyone to become an organ donor. I myself am an organ donor. The ability to help someone live a better life there is no better feeling than this,” said Gambhir.

It has been a topsy-turvy ride for Delhi this season. Gambhir opted to sit out after a string of losses and provided an opportunity to Iyer to lead the side.

Delhi set to face the Orange army again –

Since then, Daredevils though stepped up to improve their performance but failed to win crucial moments in key games. They lost their last game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and the side will face them again on Thursday night.

Delhi came close to beating the table toppers but faltered at last, losing the game by seven wickets with a ball to spare.

“Very disappointing, to be honest. We were on top at one point. I thought 163 was a good total. Ten runs extra would’ve been important. It was a difficult pitch, knew it wasn’t going to turn too much. It didn’t turn much, but Avesh didn’t do well either. Part of the game. Taking one spinner was the perfect decision, and Mishra bowled really well,” Iyer said after their latest loss against the Hyderabad side.

It eventually meant the side like Delhi Daredevils now have a slim chance of making it to the playoffs if certain results go their way.

“See, catches win matches, we’ve been practicing on our fielding, but drops happen when the pressure is high. We didn’t give up till the end,” Iyer concluded.
