Deodhar Trophy, Match 3, Karnataka vs India A: Vijay Hazare Champions Continue their Dominant Run

Karnataka continued their dominant run in the Deodhar Trophy, as they defeated India A in the 3rd encounter to qualify for the final of the tournament.

The Vijay Hazare Champions had shown their ruthless attitude in the two matches so far. Riding on a brilliant knock of 95 by Pavan Deshpande, Karnataka posted a huge total of 339 on the board in 50 overs.

It was Karnataka skipper Karun Nair who won the toss and opted to bat. After a 31-run partnership, Mayank Agarwal got dismissed for 22 off 20 deliveries.

Ravikumar Samarth and Pavan Deshpande shared a brilliant stand of 131 runs, as Karnataka looked in complete control of proceedings. Deshpande’s innings was studded with ten fours and three sixes while Ravikumar Samarth struck eight fours during his knock of 85 off 87 balls.

In the end, it was Stuart Binny and CM Gautam who propelled Karnataka to a score of 339/4 in 50 overs. Binny remained unbeaten on 37 off 24 deliveries which contained four fours and a couple of sixes.

However, it was CM Gautam who smashed a sensational knock of 49 off 26 deliveries which were instrumental in helping Karnataka to post a huge total of 339 runs.

India International Mohammed Shami had a horrendous outing conceding 96 runs.

India A openers Prithvi Shaw and Unmukt Chand shared a sensational stand of 71 runs for the opening wicket to begin proceedings. Prithvi got dismissed for 40 fof 34 deliveries which were studded with eight hits to the fence. It was some sensational piece of batting by Unmukt Chand and Ishan Kishan which kept India A in the hunt.

Ishan Kishan came in the middle at the fall of Shubhman Gills’ wicket. The southpaw began with some sensational shots. He can smash the big shots on a consistent basis, and it was exactly what he showed in the 3rd match of the Deodhar Trophy.

He smashed 73 off 62 deliveries which contained ten fours and solitary six.

India A was looking in control of proceedings when they lost the wicket of Ankit Bawne. From a score of 237/3, India A was skittled out for a mere 274 runs in 39.5 overs.

Off-spinner Krishnappa Gowtham finished with figures of 4/52 while Rohit More also bagged three wickets. Shreyas Gopal also chipped in with a couple of wickets, as Karnataka won by 65 runs.
