Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman Devdutt Padikkal’s excellent time continued in the IPL. Apart from proving his worth with the bat, Devdutt Padikkal has also established his importance in the field, saving runs and taking sensational catches. One of those magnificent grabs came in the ongoing match against Mumbai Indians in Abu Dhabi. Firstly, the southpaw scored 74 runs with the bat.

Royal Challengers Bangalore, who managed 164 in their 20 overs, needed early wickets against a star-studded Mumbai Indians batting line-up. Mohammed Siraj got one in the form of Quinton De Kock after a relatively good start by the defending champions. Yuzvendra Chahal dismissed Ishan Kishan followed by Siraj taking removing Saurabh Tiwary, thanks to Devdutt Padikkal’s excellent catch.

Saurabh Tiwary targetted the mid-off region and looked to go over Padikkal; however, he mistimed it. The youngster put a full-length dive forward to catch the ball, only inches from the ground. Tiwary departed for five at the score of 72 in the 11th over, putting Mumbai Indians slightly under pressure. Despite losing the last game, Mumbai Indians stuck to the same eleven.

On the other hand, the Royal Challengers made three changes, drafting Josh Philippe, Shivam Dube, and Dale Steyn for Aaron Finch, Navdeep Saini, and Moeen Ali. Devdutt Padikkal’s 74 anchored the innings for the Royal Challengers and seemed to amass a formidable score after being 131 for 2 at one stage. However, Mumbai Indians’ pulled things back beautifully. Jasprit Bumrah finished with figures of 4-1-14-3.
