Devdutt Padikkal notched up yet another half-century against Delhi Capitals on Monday to enter the record books. Padikkal has been a revelation in IPL 2020 as RCB have found a new opener in him. His 50-run knock off 41 deliveries helped him set the record for most runs scored by an uncapped player in a single IPL season.
Padikkal smashed five boundaries in his knock against Delhi Capitals. However, it went in-vain. Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane starred for Delhi Capitals as they chased down the total of 153 runs in 19 overs. Shahbaz Ahmed was the pick of the bowlers for RCB as he picked up two wickets.

Padikkal also surpassed the joint record of Shikhar Dhawan (2008) and Shreyas Iyer (2015) who were tied at 4 fifties in their respective debut seasons. The opener has now accumulated 472 runs in an IPL season – the most by any uncapped batsman.
Indian Premier League (IPL) has unearthed some fine talents over the years. The ongoing season has seen the likes of Prithvi Shaw, Shubman Gill, Devdutt Padikkal, Sanju Samson firing all cylinders while Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riyan Parag and Shreyas Gopal are some of the bright young talents on show.

RCB opener Padikkal however has been a stand out performer in the IPL 2020 and caught attention of one and all through his brilliance.
He was destined to be a cricket. Before his birth, his parents, had decided that if it is a son then they will make him a cricketer. And after waiting patiently for a few years, Devdutt Padikkal made his debut for RCB and was on the money straight away.
