Dindigul Dragons to Play Ruby Trichy Warriors in TNPL 3 Opener

The 3rd edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) is scheduled to start from July 11.

The opening match of the competition is slated between Dindugul Dragons and Ruby Trichy Warriors at the ICL Ground in Tirunelveli. The announcement was made on Friday. The tournament will be played between eight teams. In all 32 matches will be played across three different venues.

The ICL Ground, the NPR College Ground in Dindigul and the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai have been decided as the venues for the tournament.

The final of the competition will be held on 12th August at the Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. It will be defending champions Chepauk Super Gillies who will start their campaign against the Trichy Warriors at the Chepauk on 14th July.

In total, 14 matches will be played in Tirunelveli and Dindigul while four matches will be played in Chennai which also includes the final.

“It was decided to have a majority of the matches in Tirunelveli and Dindigul so as to provide more exposure to the next generation of players from the districts to high-quality cricket live,” TNCA joint secretary RI Palani said.

Winners will bag one crore

The winners of the tournament will take a home big prize money of Rs 1 crores. The runners, on the other hand, will also bag prize money of Rs 60 lakhs.

Meanwhile, the TNPL management has also decided to reward the 3rd and the 4th pace teams with Rs 40 lakhs each. The 3rd edition of the tournament might witness some big names taking part in the tournament.

The India Cements Limited will be continuing their association with TNP as the title sponsors. Match timings for the weekday matches will be 7.15 pm.

Two matches will be held every Sunday. While the first match will be played from 3.15 pm, the evening match will start at the same time.
