The just-concluded final of Nidahas Trophy will be best remembered for Dinesh Karthik’s stunning match-winning knock. The keeper-batsman arrived at the crease when India needed 34 runs off the last two overs. It looked like an improbable task as Rubel Hossain came on to bowl the 19th over.
In his first three overs, Rubel had conceded just 13 runs in addition to picking up two wickets. However, Karthik launched a stunning counter-attack to revive India’s hopes. He got off the mark by blasting a low full toss over long on for six and followed it up with a powerful blow to long on for four. The batsman sent out another length ball over deep mid wicket for his second six and ended the over with a scoop to the fine leg fence. With 22 runs coming off Bangladesh’s best bowler, India clawed their way back in the game.
Soumya Sarkar then came to defend 12 runs in the last over. And it looked he had done his job when he dismissed Vijay Shankar on the fifth ball as India needed 5 off the last delivery. However, Karthik launched a stunning shot over sweeper cover for his third six to seal the match in thrilling style. Karthik scored 29* off 8 with the help of two fours and three sixes.
Karthik also became the first Indian to win the Man of the Match (MoM) award after facing less than 10 balls. However, he is not the first batsman to achieve the incredible feat. So here is the list showing the players won the MoM award after facing fewest balls.

Dinesh Karthik | 29*(8) | Bangladesh |
