The skipper of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Dinesh Karthik, has opened up after his team’s victory against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Matchday 12 of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020). Even after having achieved victory, Dinesh Karthik looked critical of the team’s performance and emphasized on the areas where KKR need to work on in the coming games.

Rajasthan Royals locked horns with Kolkata Knight Riders on Matchday 12 of the Indian Premier League 2020. The Royals of Rajasthan won the toss and elected to field first. The decision, however, backfired as KKR posted a challenging total of 174 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their 20 overs. Shubman Gill top-scored for the Knight Riders as the young Indian batsman scored 47 runs.

In response, Rajasthan Royals could not live up to the expectations as they lost their first game of IPL 2020 after succumbing to 137-9 in their 20 overs. Tom Curran played a gritty knock of 54* runs but it wasn’t enough for RR to cross the finishing line. For KKR, young Indian pacer Shivam Mavi was the pick of the bowlers as he won the Man of the Match award for his 2 wickets in 4 overs.

Dinesh Karthik: I Wouldn’t Call This A Perfect Game

Speaking in the post-match presentation ceremony KKR skipper Dinesh Karthik said, “Wouldn’t call it a perfect game. Lot of areas we need to improve. The way Gill batted, Mavi bowled, Russell batted. Also the youngsters going after the high catches. Archer bowled really well. Wasn’t that easy a wicket to bat on.”

“Couple of guys made it look better than it was. These boys, the journey they’ve been through when they’re not playing, is a hard one. Putting runs on the board is what we thought was the best way to go forward on this ground,” Dinesh Karthik added.
