Dinesh Karthik Issues Unconditional Apology To BCCI's Show-Cause Notice

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently show-caused Dinesh Karthik for entering the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) dressing room during a Caribbean Premier League (CPL) game. The cricketer now has issued an unconditional apology.

Karthik is the skipper of the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League. The Red Chilies Entertainment and Knight Riders Sports Pvt, who own Kolkata in the IPL also own the franchise in the CPL.

With no cricketing commitments now, Dinesh Karthik was sitting and having a chat with their head coach, Brendon McCullum in Trinidad’s dressing room. Notably, McCullum has also taken over Kolkata Knight Riders as the head coach from the next season.

Soon after the images surfaced on the internet, BCCI issued a show-cause notice to the veteran cricketer. Dinesh Karthik now has sent an email on September 6 to clarify his position. He stated that he was there on the invitation of KKR’s newly appointed head coach Brendon McCullum.

“At the outset, I wish to state that I have not participated in Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) in any capacity,” he wrote in the email accessed by Cricbuzz. “My coming to Trinidad was at the invitation of the newly appointed head coach of Kolkata Knight Riders Mr McCullum, who also happens to be the head coach of TKR. He felt that it will be useful for me as captain of KKR, to come for some discussions with him in regard to KKR,” Karthik added.

Furthermore, Dinesh Karthik also issued an unconditional apology for not seeking a NOC for BCCI before visiting He also urged the apex body to excuse his behaviour this time around. Karthik also said that he will not visit any Trinbago matches from now on.

“I wish to tender my unconditional apology for not seeking permission from BCCI to embarking on this visit. I sincerely request this oversight be excused,” he concluded.
