Dinesh Karthik Really Keen For IPL 2020 To Go Ahead

Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) skipper Dinesh Karthik has said that he desperately wants IPL 2020 to take place as he wants to work with Brendon McCullum and Eoin Morgan. Notably, Brendon McCullum has been appointed as the new head coach of the Kolkata-based franchise. Eoin Morgan, on the other hand, is an experienced veteran who has been added to the side this year.
IPL 2020 was scheduled to start from March 29, but due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the BCCI postponed it until April 15. As the nationwide lockdown extended in India, BCCI suspended IPL 2020 Indefinitely. Now, with the situation worsening, it seems a huge possibility that IPL stands nothing but cancelled this year.
However, KKR skipper Dinesh Karthik has expressed his desire of IPL 2020 taking place amid the difficult times.
Dinesh Karthik Keen On IPL 2020 Going Ahead
“In every generation, there is a cricketer who changes the face of cricket. I think Brendon McCullum did that in the last WC. He showed the world how to play the game really fair, really hard in a watchable and enjoyable manner,” Dinesh Karthik said.
“He is extremely inspiring. One of the reasons why I want this IPL to happen is to be able to work with Brendon and Eoin Morgan. These are the two people I genuinely want to rub shoulders with. I can learn so much from these two people,” Karthik added.
Dark Clouds Looms Large Over IPL 2020 Future
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is now looking at the October-November window for the IPL. But the move can be possible only if the ICC decides to postpone the 2020 T20 World Cup that is to be held in October, this year, according to some sources in the board.
On April 10, latest reports suggested that the BCCI is probing into the July window to conduct the IPL and it could take place behind closed doors.
However, all hopes have once again vanished as the BCCI has suspended the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 indefinitely in the light of the coronavirus pandemic.
