Donald Trump To Inaugurate Sardar Patel Stadium During India Visit

The President Of The United States Of America Donald Trump is reportedly set to inaugurate the world’s largest cricket stadium in Ahmedabad. Trump is slated to travel India on February 24th and 25th.

Meanwhile, the Indian Government has ordered the concerned officials to make the visit smooth.

The new Sardar Patel Stadium in the Indian city of Ahmedabad is nearing the end of construction. The 1,10,000-seat stadium has been under construction since January 2017 after the old Sardar Patel stadium, with a seating capacity of 53,000, was demolished in 2015.

Once complete it is set to take over Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), which has a seating capacity of 95,000, as the world’s biggest cricket venue. Eden Gardens in Kolkata is currently India’s largest cricket ground with a capacity of 62,000.

A massive public rally is expected to take place during the visit to Stadium. Speaking of the same, Trump jokingly told reporters that now he will “not feel good” about the size of the crowd as he addresses a crowd usually between 40,000 to 50,000 in the US.

“He (Modi) said we will have millions and millions of people. My only problem is that last night we probably had 40 or 50,000 people… I’m not going to feel so good… There will be five to seven million people just from the airport to the new stadium (in Ahmedabad),” Trump maintained.

“And you know (it) is the largest stadium in the world. He’s (Modi) building it now. It’s almost complete and it’s the largest in the world,” Trump said.

It will not only play hosts to cricket but will also host other sports like football, hockey, basketball, kabaddi, boxing, lawn tennis, athletic track, squash, billiards, badminton and swimming.

Meanwhile, Motera people get benefitted with the visit of Trump. Roads that were badly damaged due to ongoing construction work of Metro or not repaired in years are being revamped.

Besides roads getting smooth, the entire route from the airport to Motera Stadium, which Trump will inaugurate, will be beautified with 1.5-lakh flower pots.
