On this day, 24 February, three double centuries were scored. India’s legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar had become the first man on the planet to score a double hundred in One Day International against South Africa at Guwahati. Since then, Rohit Sharma has scored three double centuries in ODI cricket. Furthermore, MS Dhoni had scored a brilliant double ton against Australia at Chennai. Dhoni had scored a fine knock of 224 runs before James Pattinson dismissed him on a short delivery.

On the other hand, Chris Gayle scored a fantastic double century in the World Cup against Zimbabwe. The combative southpaw batsman scored 215 at Canberra in the ICC World Cup 2015. The pugnacious batsman became the first batsman to score a double hundred in the World Cup event. Meanwhile, Martin Guptill had scored a fine knock of 237 in the same World Cup against West Indies.

It is a memorable day.

MS Dhoni and Chris Gayle are still playing for their respective countries. Dhoni is back in form after he struggled to hit the ground running in 2018. The talisman batsman scored 193 runs in the three-match series against Australia, which India won by 2-1. In fact, Dhoni was awarded the Man of the series award as he scored three back to back fifties in the series.

Dhoni is still fit as the fiddle and the linchpin is going to play a pivotal role in India’s World Cup campaign. The biggest positive for the Indian team is that Dhoni is back in form.

On the other hand, Chris Gayle has announced that the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019 will be his swansong tournament. Gayle smashed a brilliant knock of 133 runs off just 129 balls in the first ODI against England at Barbados.

The southpaw batsman clobbered a dozen sixes and three fours in his blistering knock. However, his century went in vain as England won the match by six wickets.
