Team India skipper Virat Kohli is likely to field an unchanged XI for the fourth of the five-match Test series against England at Southampton.

Meanwhile,  Ravichandran Ashwin, who is suffering a groin injury, regained his fitness to take the field. Ashwin was not entirely fit either for India’s third Test against England. However, the management decided to go on with him only to aggravate the injury. Ashwin struggled throughout the game and picked up only one wicket which fell on the last day of the Test. Furthermore, he bowled just one over in England’s first innings.

Team India, meanwhile,  brimming with confidence after the 203-run win at Trent Bridge. They bounced back after trailing the series by 2-0. Moreover, they will have to win or at least draw the Southampton game to keep the five-match series alive. Ravichandran Ashwin will play a key role with Southampton pitch assisting the spinners a lot.

The visitors had a good net session ahead of the fourth Test and will be eager to save the match. Virat Kohli will want the side to lead the side from the front once again at Southampton against England.

India to field an unchanged playing XI

Virat Kohli while speaking at the press conference on the eve of the Test noted that he is likely to field the same XI. Kohli is yet to field the same playing XI in the 38 Tests matches he had led so far.

However, it is highly unlikely that he will break the winning combination from the Trent Bridge Test.

As things stand, we don’t feel the need to change anything,” Virat Kohli said in the press conference.

The fourth Test between England and India starts from August 30 (Thursday) at the Southampton.
