India’s first match hero, Kuldeep Yadav said he never worries about the credentials of the batsman. The chinaman spinner added he backs his skills to get the better off the batsman.

Kuldeep Yadav came up with the match changing spell of five for 24 in the opening match against England at Old Trafford.

The hosts had got off to a flying start and the left-arm spinner was able to put the brakes on England innings by taking regular wickets. In fact, the chinaman took three wickets in one over to put England on the backfoot.

“I never bowl looking at who the batsman is. I always try to do what I can do. Jos Buttler was batting well against me. I knew he wouldn’t take chances against me. So I was happy to give him that single because the other batsman has never faced me (before),” Kuldeep said in the post-match conference.

Furthermore, Kuldeep said he is not afraid to get hit for sixes. Thus, he aims to hunt for the wickets which eventually helps in cutting down the runs. The Uttar Pradesh spinner added he learned his lesson very early in his career.

“When I started playing cricket, my coach Kapil Pandey would make me bowl such that the batsmen hit me for sixes. I used to practice getting hit for sixes to understand how it happens in a real game. I don’t feel the pressure. That is something I have learned very early on, and today I am not scared of getting hit,” said Kuldeep after his match-winning performance.

Meanwhile, Kuldeep was successful in bamboozling the English batsmen in his spin web.

He bowled at a slower pace and was able to get the purchase from the surface. Moreover, his googlies were also right on the money.

Revealing his game plan, Kuldeep said, “When I started, I varied my pace. I thought if I bowled a bit slower, maybe there will be chances. Then when I came to bowl in the second over, I kept the pace down, and increased the flight and maintained it. I maintained my length too”.

Tackling spin bowling is England’s Achilles Heel, and Kuldeep Yadav was able to put the hosts on the sword.

The chinaman was able to spin the match in India’s favour. Thus, the southpaw spinner will like to continue with his good form in England. India will next meet England on 6th July at Sophia Gardens.
