The fans have berated Dinesh Karthik after his struggle as the wicketkeeper in the ongoing first Test against England.

Dinesh Karthik’s return to England in whites has not quite panned out as he and the fans would have wanted. The last time Karthik toured England, it was way back in 2007. At that time, he had played a pivotal role in India’s series win which is still India’s last Test series win in England. He had scored 60 at Lord’s, 77 at Trent Bridge and 91 at the Oval as India won the series 1-0.

However, his comeback to England has been forgettable so far. Karthik got the chance to keep the wickets after a shoulder injury ruled Wriddhiman Saha out of the tournament. But the comeback man has done little to justify his inclusion in the side. He impressed in the warm-up game by scoring 82 but failed to open his account in the first innings of the Edgbaston Test. His miseries were further compounded by his poor wicketkeeping.

Fortunately, he did not drop any sitter behind the stumps. However, his glove work has been far from convincing. In fact, his struggles were so obvious that it caught the eyes of the fans.  And as a result, fans took to Twitter to slam him and some even asked MS Dhoni to give his some advice on how to keep wickets in England.

Here are some of the reactions:

Meanwhile, Karthik has done decently in the second innings so far. At the end of the third day, he was unbeaten on 18 in the company of skipper Virat Kohli who was playing on 43. India were 110 for 5 and still need 84 runs to win the game.
