English pacer Josh Tongue’s family friend Tim Piper, who is a pub landlord, has won a cash prize of 50,000 pounds after the fast bowler made his debut for England in the ongoing one-off Test match against Ireland at the Lord’s Cricket Ground.
When Josh Tongue was 11 years old, Tim Piper had predicted that he would play Test for England. He gambled 500/1 and invested 100 pounds. The pacer at the age of 25 years was fast-tracked into the England squad and injuries to several players saw him getting the opportunity.

“I used to go and see him in the garden playing with his dad when he was just a year old and then when he was two or three he was playing in the nets and he knew how to bowl properly with leg-spin, top-spin and everything. Of course, I’m not going to play down £50,000, but it’s just such a wonderful story in itself.
“When he was younger he started to get better and better, batting with pace and getting better with bowling. He was touch and go thinking of calling it a day and 12 months later here he is playing for England.”

Josh Tongue notably was drafted into the team after a staggering time with England Lions. He caught the eye of many when he removed Steve Smith during his recent county stint with Sussex.
