After the historic win at Lord’s, Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed has been fined 60% of his match fee due to the slow over-rate.

England started off their summer in an undesirable fashion. The Three Lions were handed a humiliating nine-wicket defeat at the hands of visitors, Pakistan, on the hallowed turfs of Lord’s.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Monday that Pakistani skipper has to sacrifice 60 percent of his match fee. It is due to a tardy over-rate during their win at Lord’s.

Other members of Pak team lose 30% of match fee

Also, the other members of the Pakistan cricket team have also got penalised for the offence. As a result, the ten players under Sarfraz lose 30% of their match fee.

It was match referee, Jeff Crowe who imposed the punishments, claiming the men in green were three overs short of their target rate of overs, despite time allowances were taken into consideration.

Further, the Champions Trophy-winning skipper of Pakistan pleaded guilty to the offence and accepted the sanctions issued by Match Referee Jeff Crowe.

According to the ICC’s Code of Conduct, players are fined 10% of the match fee,

for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, with the captain fined double that amount.”

Interestingly, the successful captain of Pakistan has to be careful after being booked for his first offence. If Sarfraz Ahmed commits another over-rate breach in Test match cricket, in the space of 12 months, henceforth, the skipper will be looking at a possible suspension.

England have confirmed that they’ve dropped opener Mark Stoneman at the expense of Keaton Jennings for the second Test at Headingley, which gets underway on Friday at Leeds.
