England and Wales Cricket Board has announced their Women limited-overs squad for the tour of India. The wicketkeeper-batswoman Sarah Taylor has returned to the ODI squad. Furthermore, Katherine Brunt is also included in the ODI squad. England and India will take on each other in three-match ODI series.

Meanwhile, Sarah Taylor had missed the Women World T20 in the Carribean due to a personal reason. On the other hand, Katherine Brunt had to miss the coveted tournament due to a back injury.

Taylor and Brunt return to the ODI squad.

In fact, Sarah Taylor will only partake in the ODI whereas Brunt will participate in both the ODI as well as the T20I series. The ODI series between India and England will part of the ICC Women’s championship. Both the veteran players will not play in the next series against Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, Heather Knight will continue to hold the captaincy reins.

England coach Mark Robinson said that they are looking to give opportunities to the young players. Consequently, it will help them with exposure at the topmost stage.

“We’ve looked to use as many players as we can to give everyone an opportunity to learn and grow as we head into a busy year,” England coach Mark Robinson said on Thursday (February 7). “In fact, we’ve included 18 players across the squads and they’ll come in and out as the tour’s progress as we look to improve our strength in depth.

“We’ve got a huge Ashes series in the summer, as well as hosting the West Indies, and obviously there are ICC Women’s Championship points up for grabs across both of these tours so there’s hard work ahead of us but we’re excited,” he added.

England will like to deliver the goods in the Indian conditions.

England Women team will take on India in three ODI matches. The ODI series will take place at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai with the first match to be played on February 22.

Subsequently, the three-match T20I series will be played at Guwahati from March 4. The second and third T20I will take place on March 7 and 9 respectively. This will be the last T20I series for India’s veteran Mithali Raj. However, the schedule for the tour of Sri Lanka is yet to be announced.
