England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have announced a 14-member squad for the one-off T20I against Australia. The England board has named a similar squad for the three-match T20I series against India.
England will square off with arch-rivals Australia on 27 June whereas they will play the 1st T20I against India on 3rd July.
Ben Stokes and Chris Woakes who were ruled out of the ongoing ODI series against Australia will wait on the sidelines for both T20I series. However, Stokes will stay with the England side. The talismanic all-rounder is recuperating from torn left hamstring.
England has savored great limited overs success.
In fact, Jake Ball has returned to the squad. Furthermore, Sam Curran who recently played his debut Test match against Pakistan is also included in the English squad. Durham fast bowler Mark Wood is rested for the T20I series.
Meanwhile, England is currently leading by 2-0 in the five-match ODI series against Australia. The hosts will look to take an unassailable lead in today’s fixture at Trent Bridge.
Furthermore, Eoin Morgan will continue to hold the reins of captaincy in the limited overs form of the game. England has achieved great success in the 50-overs format in the recent past. Thus, they will like to take the same performances in the shortest format of the game.
Here is the England squad for the One-off T20I against Australia and three T20I matches against India.
Eoin Morgan (c), Moeen Ali, Jos Buttler, Jonny Bairstow, Jake Ball, Tom Curran, Sam Curran, Alex Hales, Chris Jordan, Liam Plunkett, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Jason Roy, David Willey.
