England Recall James Vince, Ben Duckett, Dawid Malan For ODIs

England, on Monday, recalled batsmen Ben Duckett and Dawid Malan for the forthcoming ODI against Ireland and the T20I against Pakistan. The world number one ODI side have also added James Vince to the squad for the five-match ODI series against Pakistan. England had to make the forced change after Alex Hales was withdrawn from the squads for the bilateral series and the World Cup in the wake of the failed a second recreational drug test.

Hales is serving a 21-day ban for the second offence of drug use. A week ago, Hales had pulled out of Nottinghamshire’s Royal London Cup campaign, shortly after the World Cup squad was announced. At that time, the county had announced that Hales took an indefinite break due to undisclosed personal reasons. In another change, opening batsman Jason Roy is also out of the squad for the one-off ODI against Ireland the T20I against Pakistan. Roy had picked up a back spasm while playing for Surrey last week.

Duckett, meanwhile, has not played and ODI for England since October 2016 when he made all of his three ODI appearances so far on the tour of Bangladesh. On the other hand, Malan was recently called up for the series in West Indies although he didn’t play a single game. Meanwhile, Vince will be looking to replicate his domestic form in international arena. The right-hander is likely to replace Hales in the World Cup squad. Vince has so far scored 490 runs in just 5 One-Day Cup games this season, including a career-high 190 against Gloucestershire last week.
