Jofra Archer is undoubtedly one of the most sportsperson in England right now. The reason for the meteoric rise in his popularity is pretty obvious. Within two months of his international debut, Archer helped England achieve what they were trying to achieve since 1975 – the 50-over World Cup. The Barbados-born allrounder finished the tournament as England’s highest wicket-taker.

A few days later, he was given his maiden Test call-up for the ongoing Ashes and Archer impressed once again. In his maiden Test, he injured Steve Smith with a deadly bouncer that made the latter miss the third Test due to concussion. In his following Test, Archer took his first five-wicket haul in Test cricket, finishing with figures of 6 for 45.

The report suggested that Archer will receive his central contract in early October. A new five-year broadcast deal kicks in next year and it’s expected to boost Test contracts from 475,000 pounds to 650,000 pounds and white-ball contracts from 17,000 pounds to 250,000 pounds.
