Records tumbled as England thrashed Australia by 242 runs in third One-Day International on Tuesday to go 3-0 up in the five-match series. Asked to bat first, the hosts rode on centuries from Jonny Bairstow and Alex Hales to post 481 for 6. In reply, the Aussies were all out for just 239 in the 37th over.

With the remarkable game now all done and dusted, a look at some interesting numbers and stats:

1. 481 for 6 is now the highest-ever ODI total. England surpassed the previous highest ODI total of 444 for 3 which they set two years ago, also at Trent Bridge. It is the 19th instance of a 400-plus total being made in ODIs, and the third by England.

2. This was the 19th instance of a 400-plus total in ODIs and third for England.

3. The game witnessed only the second instance of England posting two 150-plus run partnerships in the same ODI innings. Openers Jonny Bairstow and Jason Roy, and then Bairstow and Alex Hales combined for stands of 159 and 151 respectively.
