India will look to continue good form while England will try and bounce back when both teams square off in the first of the three-match ODI series at Nottingham on July 12 (Thursday).

Meanwhile, there is a very little to choose between the two teams right now. England, the top-ranked side have won ten of their last 12 bilateral series while India had won their past nine.

While England will be missing Chris Woakes’ services, India will miss Jasprit Bumrah in their pace attack. They are also likely to lose Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who is suffering from a side strain. For England, Ben Stokes will return to the side recovering from his injury which means Alex Hales might sit out.

The last time both teams met in India in early 2017, India won the series 2-1. The last series between the teams in England in 2014 resulted in a thumping 3-1 victory for India, but that will have little bearing on this match-up.

Eoin Morgan’s team is unrecognizable from that 2014 version in both personnel, approach, and style. It will be a cracker of a match with both sides keen to take an early lead.

The Trent Bridge pitch should be flat, true and perfect for batting although there might be some spin if the surface is dry.
