India and England will look to start the much-anticipated five-match Test series on a positive note when they square off against each other in the 1st game from August 1 at Edgbaston in Birmingham. However, the weather in England is likely to play a big role in six-weeks long Test series.
Meanwhile, India have a poor record in England having won a series way back in 2007 under Rahul Dravid. Since then, they have been to England twice and have lost both the series. However, this team have changed a lot since then and is currently in the top of the Test rankings.
The pace bowlers have done a tremendous job in South Africa and will hope to continue doing so. Although they will miss Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah, they have some other quality bowlers in their ranks.
On the batting front, skipper Virat Kohli will be desperate to overturn his statistics in England. Moreover, they also have some good batsmen in their team who will have to step up for the team’s cause.
On the other hand, England has had a mixed fortune in the recent times. Although they have just won three in the last ten bilateral series’, however, they are a tough side to beat at home. The form of Alastair Cook and skipper Joe Root will be pivotal for hosting team’s success.
They also have the experienced duo of James Anderson and Stuart Broad with the news who can really be threatening in these type of conditions. And with Adil Rashid returning after 18 months, he will wish to continue his white-ball format.
Weather Report
It has been dry and hot in England – almost like Mumbai or Chennai in India, according to Ajinkya Rahane, at least. However, recent rains and the work done at the ground have suggested it will still be one that helps the seamers.
It is likely to be cloudy throughout the day with the temperatures ranging around 20-22 degrees Celsius. The overcast conditions will certainly assist the seam bowlers and the side winning the toss will like to bowl first.
Moreover, there are little chances of rain during the morning session, however, it will reduce once the game progresses.
The pitch has a brown, hard look to it and if the sun beats down, it should be good for batting.
