It seems like Virat Kohli is playing the game on a different surface at The Rose Bowl in Southampton. When all the other batsmen are defending themselves to stay at the crease, Team India skipper Kohli flourished his trademark drive right in his second delivery. He becomes the second fastest Indian to score 6000 Test runs.
The classy stroke-maker walked to the crease when the team looked like tumbling down. However, Kohli, in the presence of Cheteshwar Pujara avoided further hiccups for India during the first session of the Day two at The Ageas Bowl.
Virat Kohli among runs in England:
Meanwhile, the 29-year-old Kohli added yet another feather in his already illustrious hat. Moreover, He finished it with a streaky stroke that flown away from the right side of the gully. However, reaching 6000 is quite a special thing to achieve in the Test circuit.
Kohli is two innings short of Sunil Gavaskar to become the quickest to reach 6000 Test runs. However, he surpassed the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and many more Indian legends regarding being fastest to the 6000 runs in Test cricket.
In total, Kohli is the ninth quickest batsman to reach 6000 runs in the Test format. Meanwhile, in one of those surprising stats, he reached from 5000 to 6000 Test runs in the span of just 14 innings.
Coming to the ongoing series, Kohli is the leading run-scorer of the series so far. Additionally, he already scored a couple of hundreds and crucial fifties to lift the side from precarious situations.
However, as soon as Virat Kohli completed the 6000 Test runs, people took Twitter by a storm to wish their cricketing hero a hearty congratulations.
