Team India skipper Virat Kohli raises his bat in the Lord’s long room after surviving the first fiery spell of England bowlers. After the first day washed out completely, rain brought another halt on the second morning of the second Test in London. Visitors would be hoping a similar show from Kohli as that of Edgbaston.

India lost its openers in quick succession:

Kohli-led team lost its both the opening batsmen inside first seven overs. India lost Murali Vijay in the first over the match when he faced a jaffa from James Anderson.

Vijay tried to do flick after watching inward curve, but the ball breached his defence that uproots his stumps. Vijay scored a duck while facing just five deliveries.

KL Rahul after watching a fierce battle at the opposite end nicked a ball of Anderson that settled in the gloves of Jonny Bairstow. Rahul somehow managed to score eight off 14 deliveries.

Earlier, England won the toss and decided to bowl first on challenging conditions. The second Test match of pivotal five-match series is going on at the Home of Cricket.

India earlier opted for two changes. India promoted Karnataka-based Rahul as an opener to manage a place for Cheteshwar Pujara. Dhawan faced an axe along with speedster Umesh Yadav.

Chinaman Kuldeep Yadav is playing his debut Test in overseas conditions, who will bowl in tandem alongside Ravichandran Ashwin.

From the England side, Ben Stokes and Dawid Malan faced the axe. Ollie Pope is making his debut on the place of Malan while as Chris Woakes replaced Ben Stokes.

Indian team earlier faced a close defeat of 31 runs in the first Test match at Edgbaston. Apart from the skipper Kohli, no other Indian batsman could tackle the English bowlers. Excluding Kohli, Indian batters could only amass 214 runs in the whole match.
