England vs India 2018: Ben Stokes' Shot Breaks Jaw of England Physio

Ben Stokes proved to be a match-winner for England in the Edgbaston Test, as he bowled the home team to a 31-run victory against India in the opening Test.

Stokes bagged three crucial wickets om the 4th day of the Test match, as the hosts registered a sensational victory in a game which swayed from one side to the another. However, Ben Stokes hurt not only the Indians but also his fellow countrymen and team physio Craig de Weymarn.

Craig de Weymarn was left injured after he got hit by a shot from the left-hander on his fact. Reports in multiple websites claimed Weymarn broke his jaw while giving throwdowns. He was immediately taken to the hospital and spent the night there. Craig underwent surgery for the broken jaw. This has been the 2nd time within a year that a member of England’s backroom staff has been injured.

The media manager of the England team, Danny Reubden sustained a fracture in his eye socket during England’s tour of New Zealand.

He had to undergo surgery for the particular incident. Even earlier we have witnessed incidents where the coaching staff has sustained injuries while giving throwdowns during practice sessions.

Gary Kirsten was struck also broke his jaw when D’Arcy Short’s shot hit him quite badly. Meanwhile, it must be noted that Stokes had a huge role to play in England winning the opening Test.

However, both England and Stokes will rue the opportunity of his absence from the next clash. He will miss out the next match due to his court case surrounding the Bristol bar case last September.

Ben Stokes will miss the 2nd Test 

The hearing of the case is slated to undergo on 6th August. It will be enough to make sure that Stokes doesn’t get to participate in the 2nd Test.

In his absence, Chris Woakes can be brought up as the replacement for Stokes. The 2nd Test of the five-match series begins on 9th August. England is currently leading the series by a 1-0 margin courtesy their spirited performance in the opening Test.
