It is a matter of concern whether team India management decided to blacklist Test match special (YTMS) programme during the 4th Test against England at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton. The investigations are going on this particular issue.
Virat says no to BBC?
It is clear the team India players didn’t make themselves available for the TMS during the Southampton Test match. It was due to an ill-tempered incident. The incident took place at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham.
“I did not apologize and am making no comment,” Jonathan Agnew, one of the key commentators of the iconic TMS Radio commentary, was quoted as saying Mirror yesterday.
Meanwhile, former India skipper, Sunil Gavaskar is on the TMS panel too. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officials who were in Mumbai stated the matter got resolved. It was possible after a meeting with the TMS team in Southampton. In that meeting, the BBC representatives apologized to the visiting team.
Team India didn’t allow Virat Kohli to get interviewed by TMS
The problem had started after TMS protested on the fact that Indian skipper Virat Kohli was not allowed to get interviewed. It was after the conclusion of the Nottingham Test.
As per claims made by TMS, there was a breach of MoU between BCCI and the England Cricket Board. Meanwhile, Agnew had posted on the social media.
However, the Indian version was different. They stated the team management nominates a player or the captain or coaching staff for the post-match interviews. On that day the duty was given to head coach, Ravi Shastri. Meanwhile, TMS didn’t interview Shastri after their unsuccessful attempt to try and speak with Virat Kohli immediately after the presentation ceremony. Moreover, the English media wasn’t happy.
It must be learnt in a normal situation; the visiting side had to provide access to its captain, coach or players to the hosts’ broadcasters.
In this series, there are three for ECB. Sky Sports is for the live telecast, BBC for the radio commentary and Channel 5 for the highlights programme.
It is shown at 7 pm every evening. The BCCI officials haven’t said any words regarding. However, they have privately made a claim the English players are not presented in front of the hosts’ broadcaster whenever they are in India.
