Ahead of the five-match Test series, all the cricket analysts and the pundits were confident of India doing well facing England in the gruelling series. Meanwhile, Gautam Gambhir os disappointed with the way Team India fought at Lord’s.

The veteran Indian opener Gambhir added that Indian batsmen never really tried to put up some fight when England bowlers were swinging the ball all the way. However, he is confident of making a comeback.

India should have shown some fight: Gautam Gambhir

India were never in the game when they locked horns at Lord’s. Right from the toss, everything went in the host’s way including the unlucky dismissal of Cheteshwar Pujara for India. Then came a magical knock by the replacement of Ben Stokes, Chris Woakes.

Meanwhile, he gave his support to the Indian team by asking them to take one Test each from now. He feels that India can make a comeback by pushing for a victory in the remaining games of the series.

“The way we lost the Test match was very disturbing. There was no fight shown by the Indian batters and yes the conditions were a little difficult in both the innings for them, but you don’t expect this team to bundle out in literally three days. They should have shown some fight in the second session to take the game into the final day and anything could have happened from there on,” Gambhir told Times of India.

“India can make a comeback, but it is always difficult to make a comeback to win all the three games. They still have an opportunity to think about drawing the series. They can look to win 2 Tests out of the remaining 3 and then look at the way forward. They should take one Test match at a time,” he said.

However, it would be interesting to see how Indian management and Virat Kohli will pair up for the team selection.

Earlier, Gautam Gambhir predicted India delivering goods in the ongoing Test series against England.

Most probably, India would make significant shuffling in all departments of the game.

The return of Jasprit Bumrah will increase the Indian chances while there is also a chance for wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant getting his debut cap.

Meanwhile, the owner of a triple-century, Karun Nair might also get a look.
