It was a magical performance by team India at Trentbridge which helped them beat England by 203 runs. All the players showed their calibre at the right moment to make a comeback in the five-match Test series. Meanwhile, India’s cricketing icon, Sachin Tendulkar feels India skipper Virat Kohli and the all-rounder Hardik Pandya should have shared the man of the match award in Nottingham.

Hardik Pandya too played a vital role – Sachin Tendulkar

Though Virat Kohli knocked crucial tallies for India, it was Hardik Pandya’s maiden five-wicket haul which kept India on a driver seat.

However, Virat Kohli’s century in the second innings pushed India to set a massive target.

Adding strong case on Hardik Pandya, he also joined the party by smashing a brilliant 50 to stretch the lead over 500 for India. However, Sachin Tendulkar concluded it by saying the decision will always be a matter of opinion.

“Both of Virat Kohli’s innings was very significant. The first innings helped give India a strong foundation and the century in the second innings ensured that India set an improbable target. At the same time, I feel that Hardik also played an important role, especially in the first innings,” Tendulkar said.

“His five wickets were critical. Players like Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow are an in-form batsman, and to dismiss them early was vital. He even scored a quick-fire fifty in the second innings to take the target beyond 500. Eventually, it comes down to a matter of opinion. I would have made them share the award. Both players played important roles in India’s victory,” Tendulkar added.

4th Test to be played at Southampton:

After the conclusion of the game at Trentbridge, both the teams to move their feet towards Southampton to lock horns in the 4th Test. The match is scheduled to play on August 30th at The Rose Bowl.

It would be an interesting game for both the side. India needs to win the game to keep themselves on the track to win the series.

Meanwhile, England will be happy either by winning it or else a draw would keep them in light waters.
