Indian Test opener, Murali Vijay stated that he will be back soon and will play for India after being dropped out from the last two Test matches against England.

India is 2-1 down in the ongoing five-match Test against England.

Opening batsman Vijay did exceptionally well in the series against Afganistan earlier this year in Bengaluru. However, he scored either side of his century. He managed to score 20, 6, 0 and 0 from four innings in England before he dropped out from the last two Test.

Moreover, Vijay scored 1, 13, 46, 9, 8 and 25 from six innings against South Africa. He showed some poor performance in the last away matches.

“The English pacemen had their game plan worked out this time, bowling closer to my body and making me play a lot more deliveries,” he added.

Furthermore, he is confident enough that he will be back again in the squad. He speaks about the ongoing series as he desperately wants India to win the series.

“I will be back playing for India. I am positive, will sort a few things out, make runs – (but) firstly, I want India to win the series in England,” Vijay said.

However, there has been speculation on the selectors as Vijay is not playing the last two Test matches. This can be the end of a career for the opening batsman, but Vijay didn’t think so.

“I believe age is only a number. As long as my feet move and my head is still, I will continue to play.” he added.

The right-hander, Murali Vijay played 59 Test matches for India scoring 3,933 runs at an average of 39.33. His highest individual was 167 runs. He played his debut match against Australia at Nagpur, Nov 6-10, 2008 where he scored 33 and 41 runs respectively in two innings.

Murali Vijay played his last match against England at Lord’s, Aug 9-12, 2018 wherein he registered two consecutive ducks in both the innings.
