England vs India, 2018: Ishant Sharma Bags a Forgettable Record on His 30th Birthday

Meanwhile, lanky pacer of Team India Ishant Sharma gets the first jolt right on the second day of September of 2018 when he turned 30. However, being a fast bowler, he doesn’t mind it though. The Delhi-based fast bowler Ishant has been dismissed for the duck on his 30th birthday while facing England in Southampton.
Moreover, it has been a rare instance happened in the gentleman’s game of cricket as he became overall the fifth player from India as well.
Ishant Sharma registers duck on his birthday:
The tall lad joins India’s former legendary players Syed Kirmani and Venkatapathi Raju in the list of the cricketers who were dismissed for a duck on their respective birthdays. Ishant is third Indian cricketer to be dismissed on the birthday in Test cricket.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Kirmai has been the first Indian Test cricketer to be dismissed duck on his birthday. It was on his 29th birthday against Windies when the match took place in Kolkata.
On the other hand, it was India’s ace spinner Venkatapathi Raju, who registered a duck on his birthday. Coincidentally, it also came when he travelled with the Indian team to England. The match took place at Trent Bridge in Nottingham.
Coming to Ishant, who cut the cake of his 30th birthday at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton has been dismissed for a duck when it mattered the most for India. He failed to defend Ben Stokes thus registering an unwanted record.
However, Ishant Sharma batted beautifully alongside Cheteshwar Pujara in the first innings of Team India. Despite all the hard work, England bagged the series by winning those crucial moments of the game.

The other cricketers who have been dismissed for nought on their birthdays are Axar Patel and Dinesh Mongia. However, their dismissals came in the limited-overs format of the game.
