It was a beautiful inswinger that trapped Joe Root plumb in front of the wicket, all the Indians went in unison, and the umpire remained unmoved. But, Jasprit Bumrah’s confidence made Virat Kohli take the DRS call. Three reds on a trot to overturn the umpire decision but then the old demon struck the pacer, as Bumrah once again overstepped to rule it as a no-ball.

Meanwhile, the former Indian master blaster, Sunil Gavaskar isn’t impressed with it. He wants Jasprit Bumrah to address the issue as quickly as possible to come good for India in future instances.

Jasprit Bumrah’s No-ball hurts the team – Sunil Gavaskar

Sunil Gavaskar furtherly feels bowling a no-ball has got all the negativity in it. The legendary Indian quoted it hurts the momentum of the team and also a tiring work for the individual, especially, being a fast bowler.

Moreover, he feels the team players who would enjoy the wicket will be disappointed after the overstep on the big screen. To avoid all of them, Gavaskar asks Bumrah to work on his no-ball deliveries.

”Joe Root is going through a rough patch where he is falling over to the off-side and thus ending up playing across the line to be out leg-before-wicket. He had earlier escaped a similar dismissal when Bumrah overstepped again,” Sunil Gavaskar wrote in his Friday column to Times of India.

”This is something that Jasprit Bumrah has to work really hard. It’s not just frustrating for Bumrah individually, but annoying for the team too. They feel they have got a wicket only to be denied because the bowler has overstepped. For a fast bowler, having to bowl an extra delivery is also tiring work,” he added.

It was tremendous bowling by Indians, not pitch – Sunil Gavaskar

Earlier in the Southampton Test, the specialists analysed that the pitch suits the batsman.

Furtherly, Joe Root was happy with the toss going in their way. But, all of a sudden, there was an earthquake in the English batting order that was injected by Indian bowling attack.

”India’s bowlers kept the pressure on the England batsmen with another terrific performance to rattle their batsmen. Everybody who had a close look at the pitch said it was a beautiful-looking pitch. Perhaps, the best they have seen so far in the series. The pitch had no part to play in the dismissals of the England batsmen. It was a tremendous bowling by the Indian seamers that got the batsmen out,” he inferred.

All in all, it was a special performance by Indian bowling attack. If not Sam Curran’s resilience for England, Indians would have already sat firmly in the drivers’ seat.
