England paceman Stuart Broad has backed Adil Rashid to transfer his One-Day form into red ball format. Adil inclusion in England’s Test side has raised some question marks over the selector’s authenticity.

In fact, Rashid hasn’t played any red ball cricket in the domestic season. However, the England selection committee has given importance to his white ball version form.

Rashid scalped 20 wickets in the One-Day series against Australia and India. Therefore, he was instrumental in the success of the team. Broad said that Rashid bowled beautifully in the One-Day series.

“I’ve never bowled spin and never been out of red-ball cricket for an extended period of time. One thing is for sure, though, he’s bowled beautifully in the one-day series,” said Broad as quoted by Daily Mail.

Broad went on to add that Rashid has got the wicket-taking balls in his armoury. Furthermore, his recent form in the white ball version will help in taking the right confidence forward to the top level.

“I know it’s easy to say it’s a very different format with different strategies and all that sort of thing, but you can see he has got wicket-taking balls in him and he’s come through a couple of years of wonderful white-ball bowling which will give him a lot of confidence at the top level.”

On the other hand, national selector Ed Smith has made it clear that if Rashid wants to be in contention for a Test spot, he must get back to the format in the domestic circuit.

Meanwhile, Adil Rashid has played only 10 Test matches for England. However, he pushed himself into the Test squad after he got the better off Virat Kohli with a fine leg-break delivery.

Yorkshire chief executive Mark Arthur also showed his surprise over the decision.

“We’re very surprised that England has called Adil up after not playing red-ball cricket this season. Neither has he expressed a desire to do so. I hope that England know what they’re doing to Adil and the county game.”

Meanwhile, former England skipper Michael Vaughan was not happy with the inclusion of Adil Rashid in the Test side. Rashid also hit back at Vaughan, calling his comments as stupid.
