The hosts England team was able to clinch the One-day International series by 2-1 as they won the decider convincingly by eight wickets at Headingley on Tuesday (July 17) night.
The number one ODI side was able to get rid of their nemesis against Indian wrist spinners particularly tackling chinaman Kuldeep Yadav to bounce back.
Meanwhile, they say that ‘form is temporary, the class is permanent’. England Test skipper Joe Root is a fine example of the statement. The right-hander scored back-to-back centuries to respond his critics in style.
Joe Root answered his critics in style:
The way he celebrated his hundred was a perfect example of why actions speak louder than words. He was dropped from the final Twenty20 International and there were doubts raised over his white ball game.
However, Root was able to show us that why he is the ‘ROOT’ of the England middle order. Thus, he was awarded as the Man of the Series for his superb show with the bat.
Meanwhile, Indian middle order woes continued in another series. The tourists have been heavily dependent on the shoulders of their top three batsmen. In fact, they have done the bulk of the scoring.
Therefore, they are still searching for their number four batsmen. However, if they will continue to play their musical chair game with the position, they aren’t expected to find any answers.
In fact, the lower order is also becoming India’s, Achilles Heel. Suresh Raina was given his chance but the veteran southpaw failed to grabbed it.
Furthermore, Virat Kohli will also like to find his sixth bowling option as Hardik Pandya has proved to be expensive.
England had their backs against the wall after the first One-Dayer in Nottingham. However, Eoin Morgan-led team was able to bounce back in grand style in the final two ODIs.
On the other hand, Adil Rashid was right on the money in the final ODI for England.
The leg-spinner also able to bamboozle the Indian skipper with a peach of a delivery. Rashid scalped three for 49 to bag the Man of the Match award.
