Saha, who is out of the team because of his shoulder injury, had praised Pant for his audacious knock. However, it is palpable that Pant’s good performance can put Wriddhiman Saha’s place in jeopardy. Meanwhile, Wriddhiman Saha is all set to miss out on the forthcoming Australian tour as he recuperating from the shoulder injury.

On the other hand, Rishabh Pant was on fire in the second innings of the fifth Test match at Oval. Pant brought up his maiden Test century as he scored his runs in the way he only knows – that is in the topmost gear. Pant had also done well on recent India A tour of England. Consequently, he received his maiden call-up to the senior side. The Delhi based lad scored 684 runs in the IPL as he was the second highest run-getter in the tournament.

Moreover, Pant also impressed with his wicketkeeping skills. Pant took seven catches on his debut to set up a new record in Test cricket. Hence, Pant has been a good find for the Indian team. However, he will need to find the right balance between attack and defence.
