After a disastrous first four matches of the English tour, Team India opener KL Rahul came up with a brilliant performance and smashed his maiden Test century in English conditions. Right from the 4th day evening, Rahul started off in an attacking manner. After India was reduced to 2/3, it was Rahul and Ajinkya Rahane who got India back on track.

He went to day four on 46 not out. Rahul yet again came out all guns blazing and shared a very good partnership with Ajinkya Rahane. Rahul struck some wonderful shots to begin with. He carried on from where he left on Day 4. As India lost a couple of wickets in the form of Rahane and Hanuma Vihari, Rahul started smashing boundaries at will.

KL Rahul shared a 200+ run partnership with Rishabh Pant

He smashed a six and a couple of boundaries of Ben Stokes to bring up his century. On the other hand, his partner Rishabh Pant was also going great guns. The duo shared a 200+ partnership with each other to get the visitors back on track. Rahul was in great touch and took on the supporting role as Pant went after the bowlers with disdain.

Pant kept smashing the English bowlers all around the park. He started off with a one-handed six of Moeen Ali. It was indeed a special shot from the stumper. The wicket-keeper batsman thrashed Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali all around the park. On the other hand, Rahul slowly but steadily made sure that India was going into a comfortable position.

As he was approaching a well deserved 150, Rahul was castled by a peach of a delivery from Adil Rashid. The delivery would have made even Shane Warne happy. It was a great delivery which pitched way outside the off stump and turned viciously to take the off stump. Soon after Rishabh Pant was also dismissed in an attempt to score quick runs. When the article was written India was 328/7 with more 23 overs left in the day’s play.
