England talisman all-rounder Ben Stokes displayed a perfect example of sportsman spirit. The incident happened in the initial stages of India’s batting innings on Day 2 of the ongoing fifth Test match. Indian opener KL Rahul played the ball on the backfoot while going back deep in his crease, facing Ben Stokes. However, the right-hander lost his balance as he took off for a single.
In the process, Rahul lost his right leg’s shoe and had to complete the single without it. Subsequently, Ben Stokes showed why cricket is called as the Gentlemen’s game as he went to pick Rahul’s shoe.
In fact, not only Stokes gave it back to the flamboyant batsman but also loosened the shoelaces for him. Consequently, KL Rahul had a friendly chat with the English all-rounder and gave him a tap on the back.
Meanwhile, India has their backs against the wall as they are tottering at 174-6, still in arrears to England’s total by 158 runs. It was a similar story on day 2 of the fifth Test match as it has been throughout the series. England’s tail continued to wag to rub salt on India’s injury and then the tourists followed it with another dismal performance with the bat.
The birthday boy, Jos Buttler celebrated his 28th birthday in style as he scored a fine 89 to take England’s total above 300. The combative right-hander received good support from Stuart Broad as the lanky fast bowler scored an invaluable 38 runs.
Meanwhile, England bounced back in the final session of day’s play. The hosts scalped five wickets to put their noses in front. Virat Kohli scored 49 runs, however, he once felt in the trap to meddle with the outside off stump ball.
The Indian debutant Hanuma Vihari is batting unbeaten on 25 with Ravindra Jadeja accompanying him on eight runs.

On the other hand, Ben Stokes once again delivered the goods with the ball as he scalped two wickets. The talisman also took out the big fish in Virat Kohli. Meanwhile, KL Rahul could not capitalise as he scored 37 runs before he got a good ball from Sam Curran.
